The Council on Recovery is Houston’s oldest & largest non-profit organization providing prevention, education, intervention, treatment, and recovery services for individuals and their families affected by alcoholism, drug abuse, and co-occurring mental health disorders. 

Founded in 1946, The Council is the only organization of its kind providing services to every age and stage in life: Programs for new mothers and babies. Child and adolescent services. Adult outpatient rehab and treatment. Family recovery and support. Specialized services for the elderly. The Council truly helps people throughout their entire lives.

At the heart of The Council is the Center for Recovering Families, Houston’s premier outpatient addiction and mental health treatment facility, changing lives of individuals and their families through holistic programs that heal the body, mind, and spirit. 

The Center for Recovering Families offers a full spectrum of treatment programs and therapeutic services for adults, adolescents, and children with the goal of helping clients personally recover and rejoin their families in a healthy, loving, and supportive manner. These include:

•	Healing Choices, 8-week intensive outpatient treatment program
•	Relapse & Renewal Clinic for those struggling with sobriety
•	Intervention Services
•	Family Recovery Services, including individual and group therapy
•	Adolescent Services & Parent Education

The Council on Recovery, through our publicly-funded programs, also offers a helping hand to those without insurance or financial resources who may need it the most. The Council truly does what many traditional rehab centers don’t - we turn no one away.

The Council on Recovery is a United Way agency and also receives funding from private contributions and grants, special events, and program fees.

The Operations and Program Management team at The Council on Recovery plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless delivery of prevention, education, intervention, treatment, and recovery services. This team is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, coordinating client services, managing program development and implementation, ensuring quality assurance, and fostering community engagement. They work collaboratively to support the diverse needs of individuals and families affected by alcoholism, drug abuse, and co-occurring mental health disorders, ensuring that no one is turned away due to financial constraints.

Operations and Program Management

The Clinical and Behavioral Health Team at The Council on Recovery focuses on delivering comprehensive therapeutic services and interventions for individuals and families affected by substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Led by the Clinical Director and Director of Clinical Behavioral Health, the team includes Outreach Case Managers who connect clients with necessary resources, Navigators who guide clients through treatment programs, and Behavior Health Integration Managers who ensure seamless integration of mental health information and services. Their collective efforts aim to facilitate holistic recovery and support for clients of all ages.

The Leadership Team at The Council on Recovery drives the strategic vision and operational excellence of the organization. Comprised of the President & Chief Executive Officer, Chief Development & Communications Officer, and Chief Clinical Officer, this team ensures the effective delivery of comprehensive prevention, education, intervention, treatment, and recovery services. They oversee fundraising efforts, public relations, clinical program development, and adherence to the Council's mission of supporting individuals and families affected by alcoholism, drug abuse, and mental health disorders.
