Brenna Simons

Deputy Director

Brenna Simons, Ph.D., is the Deputy Director at the Arctic Investigations Program within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. With a strong background in emergency operations and incident management, they previously held roles as Lab Director and Senior Microbiologist at CDC, as well as Director of the Hepatitis & Immunization Program at the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. Brenna has also contributed to academia as an Affiliate Assistant Professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage and collaborated on clinical research focused on Alaska Native and American Indian students. Brenna earned a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Vanderbilt University, where their research emphasized HIV-specific immunology.
