Katrien Poelaert is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Blood Cell Development and Function in the Rall Laboratory at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, where they focus on the transport mechanisms of neurotropic viruses and their impact on neuronal dysfunction. Previously, they held postdoctoral positions at Utrecht University and contributed to the understanding of non-polio enteroviruses. Katrien has also served as the Senior Scientist and Project Lead for Immunology at Ziphius Vaccines, and was a Cabeaux-Jacobs Fellow of the King Baudouin Foundation. They hold a Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine from Ghent University, with a research emphasis on the pathogenesis of equine herpesvirus.
