Richard Ashford is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers with extensive experience in the high-pressure environments of Formula 1 racing. They served as Head of Powertrain, Head of Design - Transmission, and Head of Advanced Development at Williams Racing from 2018 to 2024. Prior to this, Ashford held roles at McLaren Racing as Deputy Design Team Leader and Design Engineer - Transmission, and worked as a Design Engineer at Arrows Grand Prix International. They earned a Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering with First Class Honours from Oxford Brookes University between 1996 and 2000.
