Kathryn Powley currently serves as the Strategic Communications Lead for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne. Previously, Kathryn was the Media and Communications Manager at The Florey, where responsibilities included leading media strategies and cultivating relationships with stakeholders. Her experience also encompasses a role as Assistant Director at the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, focusing on communication for major reforms in aged care, and as Media and Communications Manager at La Trobe University, where support was provided during the COVID-19 crisis. Earlier career highlights include roles as a journalist at News Corp Australia and New Zealand Media & Entertainment, along with various positions at the University of Melbourne in media advisory and management functions. Kathryn holds a Master of Arts in Mandarin from the University of Auckland, a Diploma in Journalism from Massey University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mandarin from the University of Auckland.
