Solomiya Ivakhiv

Head of String Area, Associate Professor of Violin and Viola

Solomiya Ivakhiv is a distinguished violinist and educator, currently serving as the Head of String Area and Professor of Violin and Viola at the University of Connecticut since May 2014, and as a Professor of Violin at the Longy School of Music since August 2015. In addition, Solomiya holds the position of Artistic Director for the Music at the Institute Concert Series at the Ukrainian Institute of America, focusing on programming, public speaking, fundraising, and performance. Previous experience includes roles as a substitute violinist with the Philadelphia Orchestra Association, Assistant Professor of Violin and Viola at Ohio University, and Principal Second Violinist with the Peter Nero and the Philly Pops. Solomiya's educational background includes a Doctor of Musical Arts from Stony Brook University and a Bachelor of Music from the Curtis Institute of Music.
