Karyn Baum, MD, MSEd, MHA, is a seasoned physician executive and currently serves as the Market Chief Medical Officer for UnityPoint Health. With over 15 years of experience in quality improvement, machine learning, and operations, Karyn has led significant initiatives, including the launch of a new 344-bed hospital and system-wide patient advisor teams. They have previously held roles such as Chief Transformation Officer at Essentia Health and Vice President of System Clinical Operations at Fairview Health Services. Karyn also contributes to academia as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Minnesota, teaching quality improvement in healthcare management. Their extensive international experience includes speaking engagements in countries such as Japan, Iceland, and Saudi Arabia.
