Lanier Swann Hodgson currently serves as Vice President of State and Federal Relations at UNC Health, a position held since October 2014, after previously holding the role of Director of State and Federal Policy within the same organization. Prior to that, Lanier was a Policy Advisor at DLA Piper for a brief period in 2014 and served as Senior Director of Government Affairs at Purple Strategies from December 2012 to February 2014. Experience in the United States Senate spans from January 2007 to November 2012 as a Policy Advisor in the Office of the Minority Leader, and earlier in 2004, as part of the communications team in the Office of the U.S. Lanier's career in the U.S. House of Representatives included the role of Communications Director from 2001 to 2004. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from Furman University, obtained in 2000, following attendance at Salem Academy from 1992 to 1996.
