Alejandro Adem is the President of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and a Professor of Mathematics at the University of British Columbia, where they are currently on leave. They served as the Chief Executive Officer and Scientific Director at Mitacs from 2015 to 2019 and held several academic positions, including faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Szegö Assistant Professor at Stanford University. Alejandro earned a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Princeton University and a Bachelor of Science from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. With a strong background in research and innovation leadership, they are recognized as a distinguished mathematical scientist.
