Scott Painter is an entrepreneur and CEO who has founded and led multiple automotive and mobility ventures, including Autonomy (Founder & CEO, 2020–Present) and Fair (Founder, 2016–Present). They founded CarsDirect.com (Founder & CEO, 1998–2000) and TrueCar (Founder & CEO, 2004–Present), contributing to pricing transparency and direct consumer access in car shopping. They are also a co-founder of BrightHouse (Co-Founder & Board Member, 2007–Present) and Pricelock (Co-Founder, 2006–Present), and previously founded Advertise.com (Founder & Chairman, 2001). Painter studied political science and systems engineering at the United States Military Academy at West Point (1989–1991), Spanish at the Department of Defense Language Institute (1988), and economics at the University of California, Berkeley (1991–1993), and served in the US Army as an Airborne Spanish Interrogator (1987–1991).
