David Perlman serves as a Technology Policy Advisor in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation since August 2022, leading the development of innovation policy for emerging transportation technologies such as automated vehicles and artificial intelligence. Previously, from November 2009 to August 2022, David worked as an Operations Research Analyst at the U.S. DOT Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, where management and staffing of federal transportation research projects focused on the transition of new technologies into practical applications, particularly in automated vehicles. David holds a Master of Science in Technology and Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where research was conducted on future trends in the motor vehicle industry, and a Bachelor of Arts in Science, Technology and Society from Vassar College.
