Maria Mellgren is currently the Transitions Global Patent Director at Transitions Optical, a position they have held since 2025. Previously, they served in various intellectual property roles at Essity from 2020 to 2024, including IP Director for Incontinence Care and Health & Medical. Prior to that, Maria was the IP Director AFH at SCA Hygiene and Forest Products Company from 2015 to 2020 and Patent Manager from 2012 to 2014. They began their career as an Examiner at the European Patent Office from 2000 to 2004 and have also worked as a European Patent Attorney at SCA and Awapatent. Maria earned a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from Chalmers tekniska högskola, graduating in 1999.
