Jay Oakey is the Deputy Chief Legal Officer at TowneBank, a position held since 2022. Prior to this role, Jay served as General Counsel and Secretary at Essex Bank from 2009 to 2021, and as Director and Assistant General Counsel at Circuit City from 2007 to 2009. Jay began their legal career as an attorney at Williams Mullen, where they worked from 1995 to 2007. In addition to their professional pursuits, Jay is also an adjunct professor in the Externship Program at the University of Richmond School of Law, a role they have held since 2015. Jay earned an A.B. in Psychology from Brown University and a J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law.
