The Ubele Initiative was founded in 2014, following dialogue with African diaspora leaders. Community-rooted and collaborative in character, Ubele focused on effective solutions to persistent social and economic issues. Ubele is taken from Swahili meaning “The Future”. 

As an African diaspora led, infrastructure plus organisation, we believe in empowering Black and Minoritised communities in the UK to act as catalysts for social and economic change. To achieve this, we work with community leaders, groups, and organisations in the UK and beyond to strengthen their sustainability, resilience, and voice. 

We support the growth of individuals and community-based groups and organisations through intergenerational leadership initiatives, capacity support, enterprise, and asset development.

Creative Services

The Project Management Team at The Ubele Initiative is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing a variety of community-focused projects that drive social and economic change. This team ensures projects align with Ubele’s mission of empowering Black and Minoritised communities, by coordinating efforts among community leaders, groups, and organisations. Key tasks include resource allocation, timeline management, stakeholder engagement, and performance tracking to strengthen the sustainability, resilience, and voice of the communities served.

Project Management Team

The Community Engagement and Development Team at The Ubele Initiative works to empower Black and Minoritised communities in the UK by building strong, sustainable, and resilient organisations. They engage with local leaders, groups, and organisations to provide support through intergenerational leadership programs, capacity building, enterprise development, and the creation of community assets. Their aim is to act as catalysts for lasting social and economic change within these communities.
