Melissa Dale (nee Ryan) is the Associate Director of Visual Storytelling for Photography at The Nature Conservancy, where they have worked for over 20 years advocating for impactful photography in environmental conservation. They formerly held key roles including Director of Photography and Deputy Director of Photography at TNC, guiding visual storytelling strategies across various platforms. A dedicated professional, Melissa's career began as a social documentary photographer and newspaper photo editor, later merging their expertise with natural history at National Geographic Books, where they edited 16 books on diverse subjects. Melissa earned both a BA and MA in Journalism from The University of Texas at Austin.
