The Highlander is UC Riverside's student-run newspaper. The Highlander Newspaper is committed to the pursuit of truth, the free exchange of information and ideas, and maintaining a fair and independent student voice. The Highlander exists to serve its readership, comprised of University of California, Riverside undergraduate students in particular and the local university community in general. In our pursuit of the truth, we will provide accurate information relevant to the experiences and interests of our readers. The Highlander seeks to foster an environment where student journalists learn the necessary skills to become probing, fair and critical in their writing and thought. We strive to go beyond basic reporting through vigorous investigation, analysis of the facts and creative thinking.

The Highlander is currently published each Tuesday during the academic year. First published in 1954, the Highlander remains an independent student media outlet.

The Business Manager handles financial matters and advertiser relations, while the Production Manager coordinates the layout and printing process. The Distribution Manager ensures timely and efficient circulation of the newspaper each Tuesday, and the Assistant Business Manager supports the Business Manager with various tasks to ensure smooth operation. Together, they ensure the newspaper's consistent quality and availability to its readership.
