Michael Schmid currently serves as Leiter Legal, Regulatory & Compliance at Swissgrid AG since April 2017. Previously, Michael was a Senior Legal Advisor at Staatssekretariat für Wirtschaft SECO from February 2014 to February 2017, and at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs from August 2012 to February 2014, focusing on international economic and financial law. Michael also held the position of Desk Officer and Member of the Minister's staff at the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs in early 2012 and served as Deputy Head of Unit and Negotiator of Investment Treaties and Free Trade Agreements at State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO from November 2006 to December 2011. Michael's career began as a Diplomatischer Mitarbeiter at the Directorate for International Law in the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs from 2003 to 2006. Michael holds an LLM from the University of Lausanne - UNIL and has attended the United World College of the Adriatic.
