Orlando Delpino is a highly experienced aerospace engineer currently serving as Principal Vehicle Engineer for Mission Formulation at Rocket Lab since November 2023. Prior to this role, Orlando held various engineering positions at ABL Space Systems, including Head of Structures Development and Test, Lead Structures Engineer, and Structural Engineer. Key responsibilities included overseeing structure and propulsion projects and ensuring the integrity of structural components for vehicles. Orlando's experience also includes significant roles at Vector Launch Inc. as a Senior Propulsion/Structural Development Engineer, where responsibilities involved managing engine development and structural analysis. At UTC Aerospace Systems, Orlando contributed as a Senior Stress Engineer in support of major aerospace projects for Boeing and Airbus. Academia includes a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California, where Orlando focused on dynamic fracture behavior of materials and served as a teaching assistant for multiple engineering courses. Additional undergraduate studies were completed at The University of Kansas.
