Dr. Javad Tavakoli is an Associate Professor at RMIT University in the School of Engineering, Department of Biomedical Engineering, and serves as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney's School of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Tavakoli completed a PhD in Biomechanics at Flinders University, where their research significantly advanced the understanding of soft tissue mechanics. As a former Postdoctoral Research Fellow, they led innovative research in microfluidic platforms and developed the world's first intervertebral disc-on-a-chip organ model. Dr. Tavakoli's achievements have been recognized with multiple prestigious awards, highlighting their contributions to spinal research and biomechanics.
