Dr. Javad Tavakoli is an Associate Professor at RMIT University in the School of Engineering, Department of Biomedical Engineering, and serves as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney's School of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Tavakoli completed a PhD in Biomechanics at Flinders University, where their research significantly advanced the understanding of soft tissue mechanics. As a former Postdoctoral Research Fellow, they led innovative research in microfluidic platforms and developed the world's first intervertebral disc-on-a-chip organ model. Dr. Tavakoli's achievements have been recognized with multiple prestigious awards, highlighting their contributions to spinal research and biomechanics. Their ongoing research interests focus on novel organ models and implants for orthopaedic applications.
