Emem E.I. Akpan began their work experience in 2016 as a Civil Engineer Intern at CWE, where they worked until August 2017. In July 2019, they joined Psomas as a Civil Engineer Designer I and later progressed to the role of Civil Engineer Designer II in December 2021.

Emem E.I. Akpan earned a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the California State University Long Beach, College of Engineering between 2012 and 2015. Later, between 2016 and 2019, Emem pursued a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources from the same institution.
