Laurent Van Helden has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Starting in 1999 at Deerns as a Design Engineer, they worked on airport lighting and navigational systems projects in multiple countries. In 2006, they joined Frames as the Engineering Manager in India, where they set up and managed the engineering department. Laurent later became the General Manager of Frames Middle East, responsible for the day-to-day management of the company and the sales and project execution in the Middle East region. In 2021, after the acquisition of Frames Group by Plug Power, they transitioned to the role of Regional Sales Manager Hydrogen, focusing on business development and sales for hydrogen electrolyser products. Currently, they serve as the Sales Director for Australia, New Zealand, and the APAC region at Plug Power. Additionally, since 2016, they have been a Board Member of the BeNeLux Business Council.

Laurent Van Helden has a diverse educational background. From 1994 to 1999, they attended the University of Sydney, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. After completing their undergraduate studies, they took a break from formal education and later, in 2002, they enrolled at TH Rijswijk. At TH Rijswijk, Laurent pursued Topjaar Management and graduated in 2003.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Laurent Van Helden has also obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in December 2020.
