Thierry Barbe is the principal double bass of the Paris Opera National Orchestra and teaches at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP). A dedicated educator and performer, they are also the president of the French Double Bass Society (ABCDF) and a former member of the board of the International Society of Bassists (ISB). With a commitment to accessibility in music, Thierry gives master classes and recitals globally, while organizing artistic projects that celebrate the double bass and contemporary music. They hold multiple first prizes in double bass, harmony, and analysis from CNSMDP, where they studied from 1979 to 1986.
