Maria Brooks is the Principal Economist at Ofcom, where they have been working since 2022. Before this role, they held various positions including Senior Economist at Ofgem from 2012 to 2014 and Technical Specialist in Economics at the Financial Conduct Authority from 2017 to 2022. Maria also served as a Senior Associate in the Competition Department at the Financial Conduct Authority from 2014 to 2017 and worked as an Economic Advisor at the Department of Energy and Climate Change between 2008 and 2012. They began their career as an Analyst at Charles River Associates from 2004 to 2005. Maria earned an MPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford and a BA in Philosophy and Economics from UCL.
