David Chandler is the Reactor Analysis and Modeling Team Lead at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where they support the safe and efficient operation of the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) through advanced reactor analysis, modeling, and simulation. They earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 2008, followed by a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering with a focus on reactor physics from the University of Tennessee in 2011. Since 2008, David has addressed complex safety and research challenges at HFIR, contributing significantly to projects such as the HFIR LEU conversion project and in-core irradiation research experiments. They also lead the HFIR Futures Reactor Analysis and Modeling initiative, ensuring that HFIR maintains its world-class performance for the future.
