Elena Orlando is an accomplished bioinformatics scientist with extensive experience in the field. Currently serving as the Associate Director of Data Science at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, Elena has previously held positions as Associate Director & Senior Principal Data Scientist and Bioinformatics Scientist at the same organization. Elena's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics from Duke University, where thesis research involved modeling oncogenic pathways and investigating SNP associations with cardiovascular disease. Elena began professional endeavors at Duke University’s Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and had a postdoctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Additionally, Elena gained early experience through an undergraduate internship at the National Institutes of Health.
