Benjamin Sommer has extensive experience in upstream process development, holding positions at Novartis since December 2008. Initially, Benjamin served as Head of Laboratory, focusing on microbial cell line and upstream process development until October 2013. Following a significant gap, Benjamin returned to Novartis in April 2021 as Associate Director of Upstream Process Development, specializing in mammalian cell culture. Benjamin holds a Master of Science in Molecular Biotechnology and a PhD in Biotechnology, both from Bielefeld University, where the doctoral degree was awarded summa cum laude.
