Lona Mkentane is an experienced Analytical Chemist currently employed at Northam Platinum since June 2025. Prior to this role, Lona worked as a Chemist at SGS Chemical Solutions Laboratories, Inc. from November 2019 to September 2025, and as a Laboratory Tester at Holcim for a brief period in 2019. Lona has a solid background in the chemical industry, including positions as an Analytical Chemist and contractor at AngloGold Ashanti from July 2012 to October 2018, and as a science communicator at the Nelson Mandela Bay Science & Technology Centre. Lona began a career in the laboratory as an intern at AngloGold Ashanti from July 2010 to July 2011. Lona holds a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry from Nelson Mandela University, obtained between 2008 and 2011, and a Matric certificate from St. John's College, Mthatha, earned from 2005 to 2007.
