Derek Luther is a computational engineering leader with nearly 15 years of experience in the sporting goods sector, currently serving as Lead Product Performance Engineer at Nike. Previously, Derek held the position of Director of Computational Engineering at adidas, where they led a team responsible for pioneering CAE-driven product development and contributed to the creation of the 4D product line, the first commercial 3D printed shoes. With a strong track record in developing talent and a robust patent portfolio, Derek excels in identifying innovative opportunities and has been integral to launching over 25 new commercial products. They hold a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California.
