Matthew Ponsonby is currently the Head of the Corporate and Investment Bank, EMEA and President & CEO of Mizuho International plc. Previously, they served as Head of Global Banking in the UK for BNP Paribas from 2017 to 2025, and prior to that, they held roles at Barclays Investment Bank as Vice Chairman of Banking and co-global COO from 2009 to 2017, as well as Managing Director at Citi from 1998 to 2009 and Director at Deutsche Bank from 1989 to 1998. Matthew studied Materials Science and Metallurgy at UMIST from 1985 to 1987.
