David Williams-Young is a Principal Software Engineer in the Azure Quantum Elements Group at Microsoft. With a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry from the University of Washington, David has contributed significantly to high-performance computational chemistry software. Previously, David worked as a Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, focusing on exascale electronic structure methods and software. Throughout their career, David has developed several notable software packages and libraries that are widely adopted in the computational chemistry community. In addition to their research, David enjoys hiking, kayaking, and playing music as a semi-active freelance musician.
