Susan Chimonas possesses extensive experience in research, program analysis, and policy development across various healthcare and academic institutions. Notable roles include serving as a Director of qualitative and mixed-methods research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and leading research initiatives at Columbia University’s Center on Medicine as a Profession. Chimonas has contributed to national projects focused on healthcare ethics and decision-making, notably as a consultant for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and as a member of the Financial Interest Working Group for the National Academy of Medicine. An academic background includes a PhD in Sociology from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from Dartmouth College. Additionally, Chimonas has provided leadership in community health initiatives as a board member of Morningside Retirement & Health Services.
