Jim Shaver has a diverse work experience in the field of cybersecurity and information technology. Jim started their career in 2009 at Saskatchewan Health Authority, where they worked as an Information Technology Technician and later transitioned to the role of an Information Technology Analyst. In 2015, Jim joined Crowe as a Senior Red Team Consultant, performing security consulting services such as penetration testing and vulnerability assessments. After two years, they moved to CrowdStrike, where they assumed the position of Senior Red Team Engineer and then progressed to become the Manager of the Red Team. In September 2022, Jim joined Maven Clinic as a Senior Security Engineer.
Jim Shaver attended the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) from 2007 to 2009, where they obtained an Information Technology Diploma with a focus on Computer Systems. In addition to their formal education, Jim has also pursued various certifications. Jim obtained the Certified Terraform Associate certification from HashiCorp in December 2021. In January 2020, they achieved the GIAC Exploit Researcher and Advanced Penetration Tester (GXPN) certification from GIAC Certifications. In August 2017, they obtained the Offensive Security Certified Professional certification from Offensive Security. Jim also holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)², which they obtained in October 2014. Lastly, they obtained the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) v8 certification from EC-Council in May 2014.
