Mit seinen vier Krankenhäusern zählt das Klinikum Westfalen zu den drei größten öffentlich, rechtlichen Krankenhäusern im Ruhrgebiet. Rund 2.660 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter behandeln, pflegen und betreuen jährlich über 40.000 Patienten stationär und mehr als 119.000 Patienten ambulant. 

Das Knappschaftskrankenhaus Dortmund, das Hellmig-Krankenhaus Kamen, die Klinik am Park Lünen sowie das Knappschaftskrankenhaus Lütgendortmund verfügen über insgesamt 34 Kliniken und Fachabteilungen, die nahezu das gesamte medizinische Leistungsspektrum abdecken. Darüber hinaus ist das Klinikum Westfalen als akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus der Ruhr-Universität Bochum in der universitären Ausbildung und Lehre aktiv.
