Ryan Overbeck is a Senior Staff Software Engineer and Tech Lead Manager at Google, where they currently lead the ML, Computer Vision, and Graphics research team for Project Starline. With a strong background in immersive image-based experiences, Ryan has previously held roles including R&D Software Engineer at DreamWorks Animation and IT Specialist-Programmer at the Chandra X-ray Observatory. They completed their M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science at Columbia University, following a B.A. in Physics from the University of Rochester. Ryan has a passion for creating impactful visual experiences that connect people across distances and has developed numerous innovative algorithms and systems throughout their career.
