Brandon Lum

Open Source Security Engineer

Brandon Lum is an experienced security engineer with a strong background in open source security and software development. Currently serving as an Open Source Security Engineer at Google since January 2022, Brandon leads initiatives related to software supply chain inventory and SBOM compliance, significantly impacting security programs and risk reporting. As Co-Chair and Technical Lead of the CNCF Security Technical Advisory Group since February 2020, Brandon contributes to enhancing cloud-native security practices. Previous experience includes roles at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center as a Senior Software Engineer and other positions in various organizations, encompassing penetration testing, cryptography research, and independent software development. Brandon holds degrees in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and Cyber & Digital Security from Temasek Polytechnic.
