James M. Wilson, MD, PhD, is a gene therapy innovator and rare disease advocate with a research career spanning over 40 years. Currently, they serve as the President and CEO of GEMMA Biotherapeutics and the Executive Chair of Franklin Biolabs, while also holding a Professor position at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, they directed the Gene Therapy Program and the Orphan Disease Center at the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout their career, they have focused on advancing gene therapy technologies to improve safety and efficacy, advocating for global access to these therapies for patients with rare diseases.
