Thomas Figueroa

Research Scientist - Team & Project leader

Thomas Figueroa is a research scientist and team leader in virology with extensive experience in academic and industrial settings. Figueroa served as a part-time lecturer at Université François Rabelais de Tours from 2014 to 2016 and conducted Ph.D. research on the role of interferon-induced ADAR1 during Marek's disease virus infection. Following a role as a member of the Animal Welfare Body at Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Toulouse from January 2019 to November 2020, Figueroa worked as a research engineer focusing on SARS-CoV-2 assays, and later as a postdoctoral researcher on highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses. From December 2020 to September 2022, Figueroa was a project manager at NeoVirTech, focusing on RNA and respiratory viruses. Currently, Figueroa leads a team at Evotec, overseeing research on anti-infective drug discovery and integrated drug development projects. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. from Université François Rabelais de Tours, a Master’s degree in Infectiology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Genetics.
