Helmut Ettl is the Executive Director of the Financial Market Authority Austria (FMA), a position held since 2008. They have also served as Vice Chairperson of the European Banking Authority from 2011 to 2023 and held several roles including Member of the Board of Supervisors and Co-Chair of the Advisory Committee on Proportionality. Prior to their work at the FMA, Helmut was a member of the Committee of European Banking Supervisors from 2008 to 2010 and worked at the Oesterreichische Nationalbank from 1995 to 2008. In addition to their current roles at the European Central Bank and the European Systemic Risk Board, Helmut is pursuing a Master’s degree in Economics at Johannes Kepler Universität Linz.
