Nicholas van Beinum

QA Engineer

Nicholas van Beinum has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Nicholas started their career at Spergel Inc. as an Assistant to Estate Administrator from June 2009 to September 2011. Nicholas then worked as a Project Management Student at Regional Municipality of Durham from May 2012 to August 2012. During their time at Carleton University from January 2012 to April 2015, they served as a Campus Tour Guide.

Nicholas gained technical experience as a Facilities Technical Specialist - Co-op Student at Nasittuq Corporation from May 2013 to August 2014. In this role, they provided technical support for life cycle materials management and conducted annual trend analysis reports.

In 2015, Nicholas joined TRU Simulation + Training as a Flight Control Engineer. Nicholas developed high-fidelity real-time C++ flight control models for aircraft simulation, conducted testing at various stages of integration, and tuned motion-control systems. Nicholas also designed and implemented control schemes for real-time software components and collaborated with major aircraft manufacturers.

From 2017 to 2019, Nicholas worked at General Motors as an Autonomous Test Engineer. Their responsibilities included developing and executing test plans for diagnostic software on autonomous vehicle ECUs and designing a vehicle data mining and presentation system using Python/SQL and Microsoft PowerBI.

Most recently, Nicholas returned to work at ecobee in 2020 as a QA Engineer. Prior to this role, they held the position of Senior QA Engineer at the same company.

Overall, Nicholas van Beinum has a strong background in technical roles, particularly in the fields of engineering and quality assurance, with experience in simulation software, testing, and data analysis.

Nicholas van Beinum began their education journey in 2007 at Sinclair Secondary School, where they focused on obtaining their High School/Secondary Diplomas and Certificates. After completing this stage, they pursued higher education at Carleton University from 2010 to 2015. At Carleton, Nicholas specialized in Mechanical Engineering and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree. Later, in 2019, they further expanded their knowledge and skills by enrolling at George Brown College for a Continuing Education program in Culinary Arts, which they completed in 2021.
