Die dwpbank betreut sektorübergreifend 5 Millionen Wertpapierdepots von Sparkassen, Genossenschaftsbanken, Privat- und Geschäftsbanken. Mit rund 200.000 verwalteten Nutzern – Anlageberater und Mitarbeiter in den Kreditinstituten – ist die zentrale Abwicklungsplattform WP2 der dwpbank eine der größten IT-Anwendungen in der deutschen Bankenlandschaft.

Als Bündler großer Transaktionsvolumen aus allen drei Sektoren des deutschen Finanzsystems erzielt die dwpbank Kostenvorteile durch Skaleneffekte (economies of scale) sowie Verbundeffekte (economies of scope) bei Produkten, Services und Know-how. Sie entlastet ihre Kunden zusätzlich durch die Übernahme operationeller Risiken (control of operational risk). Durch ihr Produkt- und Serviceangebot ermöglicht die dwpbank in großem Maße Synergien für jedes einzelne der angeschlossenen Kreditinstitute. Die Basis hierfür bildet – neben der massiven Bündelung von Transaktionen und Depots – die kontinuierliche aktive Anpassung von Systemen, automatisierten Routinen und Prozessen an kommende Herausforderungen. Sämtliche regulatorischen Vorgaben werden für alle angeschlossenen Institute zentral in der Wertpapierplattform WP2 der dwpbank umgesetzt.
