Ioannis Chiotopoulos began their journey in the maritime field with a strong foundation in mathematics and physics, leading them to earn a Master of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and a second Master’s degree in Maritime Technology from Newcastle University. After gaining experience as a superintendent, fleet manager, and technical manager for Greek shipowners, Ioannis joined DNV in 2000, advancing through various roles, including Area Manager and Principal Surveyor, and eventually becoming the Senior Vice President and Regional Manager for South East Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Over the years, they have contributed to significant projects, including the construction of China's first drill vessel, while their career with DNV has taken them to various locations, from Asia to their current base in Piraeus.
