Oliver Willekens serves as the Team Lead at Dataminded since November 2016, directing data and platform engineers while shaping strategic initiatives. Willekens specializes in data engineering and data science, designing big data transformation pipelines and employing machine learning for predictive models, alongside conducting interactive workshops on technologies such as Apache Spark and Python. Additionally, Willekens heads the Data Minded Academy, focusing on training aspiring data engineers. Prior experience includes a PhD in photonics at Ghent University, where electro-optic devices were developed, as well as roles at Newtec and LightHOUSE, where technical support and research contributions were made in satellite telecommunications and photonics, respectively. Willekens holds a Master of Science and Engineering in Photonics from Ghent University.
