Mark Jan van den Akker is an experienced professional in the maritime and defense sectors, currently serving as Product Manager for Defence and Security and Foreign Navies at Damen Shiprepair & Conversion since March 2017. Previously, Mark held the position of Managing Director at GAC Group from June 2013 to February 2017 and at SMIT International from August 2008 to 2013. Mark's career at SMIT International began in 1998, where roles included Senior Project Manager, Fleet Manager, and Project Manager. Prior experience includes serving as an Officer - Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Netherlands Navy from 1981 to 1998.
