Lauren Urgenson is currently the Urban Forestry Policy and Programs Manager at the City of Seattle's Office of Sustainability & Environment. They have held various academic and research roles, including Post-Doctoral Research Associate and Staff Ecologist at the University of Washington, where they also served as a Research and Teaching Assistant. Lauren contributed to the Seattle Urban Foraging Study as an Associate with the Institute for Culture and Ecology and coordinated projects as a Program/Project Manager for King County, WA. They have also been a Wilburforce Fellow in Conservation Science and have experience as an Instructor in ecological restoration. Lauren is pursuing a Master of Science and PhD at the University of Washington while holding a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland College Park.
