Thomas Schmitz is an experienced professional in the telecommunications industry, currently serving as the Sales Director for DACH and CEE Accounts at Ciena since October 2011. Schmitz leads Regional Account Teams, with a focus on Deutsche Telekom AG and other key accounts in fast-growing European economies. Prior to this role, Schmitz held various positions within Ciena, including Account Leader for Deutsche Telekom and Account Director for Global Carrier Accounts. Schmitz also worked at EADS as a Service Level Manager and held roles at Nortel Germany, where responsibilities included incident management and technical support for international networks. Schmitz holds a Dipl. Ing. (BA) degree in Telecommunications from Berufsakademie Ravensburg, earned between 1997 and 2000.
