Dr. Mohamad S. Jaafar is the Professor and Chairman Emeritus of the Department of Ophthalmology at Children's National Hospital, where they have continued their commitment to clinical care, advocacy, research, and education. They completed their BS and MD at the American University of Beirut and pursued multiple fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at prestigious institutions, including Boston Childrenās Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Jaafar established the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Service at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia in 1983 and joined Children's National Hospital in 1986, serving as Chairman from 1995 to 2019. Currently, they also hold a professorship at the George Washington University and are actively involved in various professional organizations and boards in the field.
