Charlotte is known as the birthplace of professional hockey in the South, and the Charlotte Checkers are proud to be part of that history.  Currently the Checkers are in their ninth season as a member of the prestigious AHL, as the top-tier affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL. The Checkers are looking to make a deep playoff run this season at Bojangles'​ Coliseum.
