Derek Buchanan is a seasoned building science consultant currently employed at Certa Building Solutions since May 2021, following a previous role in the same capacity at Morrison Hershfield from March 2019 to May 2021. Derek has a diverse background in project management and engineering, having served as a project manager at Smallwood Design & Construction Inc. and as a project engineer at both Deacon Corp. and TC Legend Homes. Derek's career began at Washington State University Dining Services as a student manager, complemented by roles in service and internships that further honed interpersonal and professional skills. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Washington State University, earned in May 2014.
