John Meng, PhD, PE, is a Senior Materials, Corrosion, and Welding Engineer at bp, with 22 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas sector. They previously served as an Assistant Professor at the United States Naval Academy, where they developed novel thermal spray coatings and conducted research on environmental cracking of high-strength materials. John has held various engineering roles at bp, including leadership positions in significant projects such as the Mauritania & Senegal Tortue FPSO Project and the GoM Mad Dog Phase 2 Project. They earned a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from The Ohio State University and also held engineering positions at Honeywell, Baker Hughes, and Beihang University.
