Becca Chappell, PhD, is a scientist and medical writer dedicated to communicating scientific knowledge in an accessible manner. They completed their PhD in Cell and Molecular Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where their dissertation focused on the role of autophagy in intervertebral disc cells. Becca's research experience includes projects on the effects of sleep on cognitive performance and the role of kappa opioid receptors in stress-related drinking behavior. Currently, they work as a Senior Medical Writer II at BOLDSCIENCE, focusing on neurology. Passionate about mentoring, Becca has trained undergraduate students in basic laboratory skills throughout their academic career.
